The Civilization of Medieval West

One of the most authoritative historians of the 20th century, Jacques Le Goff examines medieval West within the parameters he set of space-time, material culture, and social hierarchy, revealing both the everyday life and mentalities of medieval people, as well as the features of their spiritual culture in the Middle Ages.

The author of the book attempts to concisely but vividly and convincingly characterize the main features of medieval civilization. At the center of Le Goff's attention is the everyday life of people in medieval Europe, the characterization of the social system, and most importantly, the analysis of mentality, collective psychology, and ways of feeling and thinking.
