450 photographs from the archives of the MХAT Museum and the theatre from historical and modern periods. Preface by the artistic director of the MHT named after A.P. Chekhov, Konstantin Yuryevich Khabensky. You are holding a book dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the Moscow Art Theatre. It contains a story about 125 performances that were or are currently being staged at the Moscow Art Theatre. Of course, the number of performances that have taken place in this theatre over its 125 years of existence is much greater – we have chosen the most significant ones, as well as those that define the current face of MHT. The face of the theatre we are building now. For me, right now, probably the most important thing in MHT is the search for our theme. This is not a quick matter; such things are not born artificially. And while we are still only feeling out our plot, it is very important that the theatre remains alive. This book is about a living theatre. Artistic director of the MHT named after A.P. Chekhov, Konstantin Khabensky
