Nathan Yakovlevich Eidelman — historian, literary scholar, writer, publicist, whose contribution to Russian historiography of the 20th century is hard to overestimate. He left a rich creative legacy — more than 20 books and numerous articles, essays, reviews in the periodic press. The main area of research interests of N. Ya. Eidelman was the history of Russian culture and social movements in the XVIII–XIX centuries. The books «Your Eighteenth Century» and «Your Nineteenth Century» tell about the most interesting events in Russian history: palace coups, the Pugachev uprising, the development of Kamchatka and the Kurils, the Patriotic War of 1812, the uprising on Senate Square in St. Petersburg, the abolition of serfdom, and more; the heroes of these books are outstanding personalities of their time: Peter I, A. P. Hannibal, M. V. Lomonosov, N. I. Panin, A. N. Radishchev, A. S. Pushkin, A. I. Herzen, the Decembrists...
