Dead Souls

The poem Dead Souls was translated into many other languages even during the author's lifetime. It had incredible success. No one before or after Gogol managed to describe the vices and weaknesses of the Russian person so vividly and sharply, to reflect the most significant issues for Russia so vividly and truthfully. 160 years have passed, and the poem sounds as if it was just written.
