Demons

The novel «Demons» by Fyodor Dostoevsky is so multilayered that it is difficult to identify the main plot. Its pages contain both a circle of nihilists and thoughts about the great, prophecies, and a million characters intertwined in a tight knot of romantic experiences. Paradoxically, all the most interesting events seem to take place «off-screen», and the imagination has to reconstruct reality based on the dialogues and numerous rumors shared by the narrator-hero. And they encompass everything: revelry, love and hatred, financial debts, a fictitious wedding, mad ideas and permissiveness, blackmail, deception, and murders.
