1984. Animal Farm

George Orwell, an English writer, critic, and journalist, entered the history of literature primarily thanks to his last novel "1984". The book was published in 1949, has been reissued numerous times, and has been translated into 60 languages. Alongside Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" and Yevgeny Zamyatin's "We", Orwell's novel became one of the key dystopian books of the 20th century. The society depicted by the author is based on total lack of personal freedom, propaganda, and open violence, which have triumphed, according to the bitter and ominous prediction of the author, in the fictional state of Oceania by 1984, however, the structure of this state easily reveals the traits of any totalitarian regime. This collection also includes the famous satirical fable "Animal Farm", which thematically complements the novel "1984". The animals in the fable, having expelled the owner from the farm, try to create a just society according to the laws of universal equality. But this proves to be no easy task, because, as stated in the novel: "All animals are equal. But some animals are more equal than others."
