From the author: «All I wanted was to talk about how right now, at the moment of writing this book, science is at that very stage where enough has been studied to edit the genome, but the ideal scissors that can save lives have yet to be found. At the stage where a cell can be returned to its pristine state by adding just a cocktail of four genes, but controlling these cells is so difficult that they have to be marked with magnetic particles and various other tricks must be applied. At the stage where we are using gene therapy to treat neurodegenerative diseases and oncology, but we still have not been able to find the precise working mechanism of the onset of these diseases. Initially, I wanted to name the book In Search of GMOs, to write about how cool genetics is, how it will save us all, and how everything will be fine. But, as usual by the law of genre, something went wrong. And here I am already writing about my favorite stem cells, which I have dedicated more than five years of my life to, and that is no small amount, 1/6 of my existence.
