How to Befriend Genes in Cells. A Cocktail of Youth, Glowing Kittens, Printed Organs and Other Scientific Delights

From the author: «All I wanted was to tell that right now, at the moment of writing this book, science is at that stage where we have studied enough to edit the genome, but have not yet found the perfect... scissors that can save lives. At that stage when you can return a cell to its primordial state by adding just a cocktail of four genes, but controlling these cells is so difficult that you have to label them with magnetic particles and use various other tricks. At that stage when we are treating neurodegenerative diseases and oncology with gene therapy, but we still haven't been able to find the exact working mechanism behind these diseases. Initially, I wanted to name the book In Search of GMOs, to write about how cool genetics is, how it will save us all, and everything will be fine. But, as is often the case, something went wrong according to the law of the genre. And now I find myself writing about my favorite stem cells, to which I have dedicated more than five years of my life, which is no small feat, 1/6 of my existence. And then I decide to spice it all up with gene therapy and mix it all in at the end. I really hope you enjoy it! And even more hope that you learn something new and interesting for yourself».
