The Life Cycle of Corporations and Change Management. Educational Manual

The duration of the life cycle of an organization and its stages depends on many factors, among which the effectiveness of management is paramount. The effectiveness of an organization's activities depends on how its leaders and employees understand, evaluate, and... consider in their actions its life cycle and the characteristics of each of its stages, as well as how appropriately the leaders select methods for managing organizational changes. Modern organizations operating in conditions of continuous changes in the external environment undergo a series of processes of centralization, mergers, decentralization, and restructuring of management systems, up to the procedures for restructuring ownership and developing a network of small firms around the retained core of the parent company. In general, the task of management is not to eliminate all existing problems within the organization, but to focus on problems significant for the current stage of the life cycle, address them, and move on to the next stage. This manual presents cases for assessing the stage of the organizational life cycle, analyzing organizational behavior, and management directions at various stages of the life cycle. The publication is intended for students studying in the fields of 38.04.01 “Economics” and 38.04.02 “Management” in the master's program.
