About Film Directing

A course of lectures by American screenwriter and director, Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet (b. 1947), delivered at the Columbia University School of the Arts in the fall of 1987. Considering all aspects of directing - from the screenplay to editing - Mamet dissects each of the tasks presented to the director on the way to the main goal - presenting the audience with a story that is both comprehensible and surprising.
