and the author of the theory of «mass action» in the field of performing arts. He published and edited the magazine «Kinophot», designed kiosks and movie posters, and participated in the creation of the Group of Constructivists, the Union of Modern Architects, and the «October» association.
This book is the first Russian-language monograph about Aleksey Gan. Alexander Lavrentyev, an art historian, design historian, professor at S. G. Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry, and a popularizer of the heritage of Russian avant-garde, grandson of Alexander Rodchenko and Varvara Stepanova, compiled a portrait of his hero from manifestos, memoirs of contemporaries, friends and colleagues, as well as research and critical works about the preserved or reconstructed creative legacy of Gan.
