Cinema

Gilles Deleuze, according to the testimony of one of his contemporaries, was a true cinephile. «He understood earlier and better than us that in some sense society itself is cinema». Deleuze not only developed the culture of watching films, but... also sought to understand what role philosophy can play in understanding cinema and what, on the contrary, cinema has irreparably changed in philosophy. He was one of the few who, by thinking about cinema, also tried to think with its help. Perhaps no philosopher has written about cinema as thoroughly from the perspective of serious philosophy, while at the same time not turning cinema into a simple object of study that can be viewed from the outside.
