Istanbul. The City of Memories

Orhan Pamuk is a renowned Turkish writer, a recipient of numerous national and international awards, including the Nobel Prize in Literature for "the search for the soul of his melancholic city." Indeed, the action of almost all of the writer's... novels takes place in Istanbul, a mysterious and beautiful city that has experienced both a glorious heyday and the sad twilight of decline. However, while in other works the city skillfully hides behind events, appearing as a suitable backdrop, in his book "Istanbul. The City of Memories," Pamuk assigns it the role of the main character. By recounting his childhood and youth, the writer reveals Istanbul to us as a mystery worth discovering and loving.
