Queen of the Night

Every year in the kingdom of the dead, a Ball of Love takes place. Its guests are the souls of people from all nations and times, whose love proved stronger than death. Its hostess is lonely, so the ball needs... a host. By established tradition, it is a descendant of the divine lineage chosen by her from the living. Matvey Rokotov is a young, talented surgeon. He is lonely, single, and has devoted his whole life to saving others, challenging death day after day. Until she herself comes to him, inviting him to accompany her to the ball in exchange for the fulfillment of a cherished wish. This evening will change both of them. Matvey will once again believe that he is capable of love, and Death's heart will begin to beat once more. After all, love conquers all. Or does it not?
