Mayakovsky. How to Write Poems

Vladimir Mayakovsky is a bright and original phenomenon in domestic culture, comparable only to the birth of a supernova; after him, poetry was divided into before and after. No matter how you define Mayakovsky – the first proletarian poet, futurist, artist, movie star, traveler, lover, suicide – any definition will be insufficient. Therefore, no work on Mayakovsky can claim to be exhaustive. However, the possibilities of new media offer new, futuristic approaches to the research object that would also please the object itself, the author of the comic “Windows of Growth”: the graphic novel “Mayakovsky. How to Write Poems” is both an artistic biography, offering an exciting immersion into the life and work of the poet, and a sort of to-do list for poets wishing to write “in the style of Mayakovsky,” and a postmodern statement, more reminiscent of a séance, where the spirit of the poet reluctantly tells how poems are written.
