The poets of the Silver Age gifted the Russian-speaking reader not only their own great lyrics but also opened the works of many foreign poets. Marina Tsvetaeva and Konstantin Balmont, Nikolai Gumilev and Valery Bryusov... These and other celebrated masters are famous for their translation endeavors: thanks to them, we read Charles Baudelaire and Stéphane Mallarmé, George Gordon Byron and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in Russian, ancient lyricists and classical Chinese poets. The anthology includes selected poetic translations made by true masters of artistic word from the Silver Age — for all who appreciate the diversity of world literature and are ready to discover new, unexpected, thrilling poetic horizons again and again.
