Markov Strogov

The epic novel "Strogovs" by the famous Siberian writer Georgy Makeevich Markov can rightly be called historical. In his work, the author vividly and figuratively depicts the life of the Siberian region during major historical events - the Russo-Japanese War, the revolution of 1905, the October Revolution of 1917, and the Civil War - through the fate of the peasant family of Strogovs. The main character of the novel, Matvey Strogov, goes through "fire, water, and copper pipes", from a peaceful peasant-beekeeper to the commander of a red partisan detachment, proving to himself and others that a person must always remain a human and honorably emerge from any life conflicts. In 1952, the novel "Strogovs" was awarded the State Prize of the USSR, and in 1975, a film based on the novel was released, breaking all records of audience popularity.
