The Government Inspector

"The Government Inspector" is one of the best Russian satirical comedies. Nikolai Gogol "decided to gather all the bad in Russia into one pile and laugh at it all at once," combining realistic vision and grotesque, making readers and viewers laugh at easily recognizable characters and situations. The comedy is still relevant and loved by many, as greed, stupidity, negligence, and other vices of human nature remain unchanged.
