Vasily Tyorkin

«Vasily Tyorkin» is the magnum opus of Tvardovsky, his «business card». In Russian poetry, it is one of the most remarkable works dedicated to the image of a truly «popular» hero - the Russian soldier, fearless, kind-hearted, and undaunted. But a completely different tone sounds in the bitterly ironic «Tyorkin in the Other World» and in the autobiographical «By the Right of Memory» - poems that brand the nightmare of Stalinism with a hot iron and were banned during the author's lifetime.

The collection also includes poems from different years - predominantly the later lyrics of Tvardovsky, his understanding of life and creative path.
