«The Cold Heart» is a moralistic fairy tale... about a young charcoal burner, Peter Munk, who intends to change his poor and dull life not by his own efforts, but with the help of magic. In order to gain wealth, he is willing to make a deal with the sorcerer Holländer-Michel, but for his help, the sorcerer asks for nothing less than the heart of the young man. Will Peter go for this deal? Will he be able to live for his own pleasure, without experiencing any feelings or emotions, with a cold heart in his chest?
The text of the tale is adapted for levels A1-A2 (for beginners learning German) and is accompanied by comments. After the fairy tale, exercises with keys are offered. At the end of the book, there is a vocabulary glossary that facilitates reading.
