"The Book of the Way and Life" ranks second in the world by the number of foreign translations, following the Bible. The origin of this book and the personality of its author are shrouded in many legends: Laozi created this work more than two thousand years ago, and yet his treatise remains an inexhaustible source of wisdom and reflections on existence, justice, as well as the nature of good and evil. The main secret of Laozi seems paradoxical: to become oneself, one must eliminate their private "self"; to have power, one must not desire it, and so on. And the secret of reading is to comprehend that inner depth of meaning that wisdom imparts, revealing in each judgment an alternative and opposite meaning.
