Kaoru, whose friendship Shinji rejected, turns out to be very different from what he pretended to be. The decisive battle unfolds directly at NERV headquarters. Kaoru asks Shinji for one last favor, and he will have to make a truly monstrous decision… But a new enemy appears at NERV: SEELE forces storm the headquarters, sparing no one in their path. Desperate and having lost the will to live, Shinji is saved at the last moment by Gendo and Misato. They urge him to head to Eva-01.
