Museum Out of It: A Journey from the Louvre to Las Vegas

The book offers a new interpretation of the relationship between the museum and the city.

«Museum Out of It» is a manifesto against the dreary uniformity and unidimensionality that are often brought about by diligent control and order, and at the same time a treasure trove of stories and hidden facts. The reader is in for an extraordinarily fascinating and enlightening journey: they will discover London in the early 19th century, Paris in the 1840s, Las Vegas in the 1990s, and connect them with the most remarkable European art and architectural projects of the 20th–21st century. They will encounter the dreams and embodiments of paradoxical creators: John Soane and El Lissitzky, Marcel Duchamp and Robert Filliou, Carlo Scarpa and Christian Boltanski, Le Corbusier and Rem Koolhaas, Alfred Hitchcock and Joseph Cornell… They will see how multifaceted and unpredictable are the streets, buildings, windows, and entire neighborhoods of modern cities. They will verify the existence of that which «already exists but remains unnoticed, as if existing in a parallel universe». In a word, the reader will have to rethink their relationship not only with the museum, but also with the city, and perhaps with themselves.
