This collection includes three masterpieces by Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky, one of the greatest domestic playwrights of the 19th century: the comedy "Our People - Let's Count!" and the dramas "The Storm" and "The Dowryless Girl." Ostrovsky sharply and ruthlessly shows the reader the essence of merchant life, filled with hypocrisy, deceit, and heartlessness: this is a world where everyone is a stranger to one another, where everything is for sale, and even beauty becomes a subject of bargaining and is subjected to desecration. In the delicate and precise strokes of illustrations by Yulia Kazarnitskaya, the inner appearance, characters, and manners of the protagonists - symbols of the era contemporary to Ostrovsky - are revealed.
