The first major novel by Gustave Flaubert, completed in 1845. Like most of his works written before "Madame Bovary," the author never attempted to publish it. In 1869, Flaubert used the old title for another novel, which is now known... as "Educating Sentiments." As for the novel written in 1845, it was published only thirty years after the author's death. The novel "The First 'Educating Sentiments'" stands out against the backdrop of Flaubert's other works, and this is best seen when compared to the "second" classic novel of the same title, which bore the subtitle "A Young Man's Story." In the 1845 book, there are not one, but two young people, two friends, whose stories develop in parallel in alternating chapters.
