Kalevala

«Kalevala» — a literary image of beautiful Finland, its pride and national treasure. Finnish doctor and linguist Elias Lönnrot collected epic songs, spells and proverbs of Finns, Karelians and Veps and created a literary work based on them, unique in... its significance.
Fifty rune-songs of the epic, like beads, are strung on a single narrative thread — the confrontation between the bright land of Kalevala and the dark, hostile Pohjola. God-like fairy tale heroes from legends acquired vivid traits in Lönnrot's version and became similar to humans.
