Kalevala Finnish Language

«Kalevala» — a literary image of beautiful Finland, its pride and national treasure. Finnish doctor and linguist Elias Lönnrot collected epic songs, spells, and proverbs of the Finns, Karelians, and Vepsians and created a literary work based on them, unique... in its significance.
Fifty runes-songs of the epic, like beads, are strung on a single storyline — the confrontation between the bright land of Kalevala and the dark, hostile Pohjola. God-like fairy tale heroes from legends acquired vivid traits from Lönnrot and became similar to humans. The pages of «Kalevala» breathe with antiquity and open for us a rich cultural heritage with centuries-old history, reflecting the ideas, way of life, and traditional beliefs of the Finno-Ugric peoples.
