Horacio Quiroga (1878, Salto, Uruguay — 1937, Buenos Aires) — Uruguayan writer who lived in Argentina, one of the most prominent Latin American writers, a master of the short story.
We present to readers perhaps the best collection of stories by...
Quiroga — «The Exiles» (1928).
Influenced by Edgar Allan Poe, Rudyard Kipling, and Guy de Maupassant, the writer developed a remarkable precision of style, which allowed him to skillfully narrate the violence and horrors hidden behind the outward friendliness of nature. The action of his stories takes place in the Misiones countryside, in northern Argentina, where Quiroga lived for many years and from where he borrowed situations and characters for his stories.
The book contains the complete unadapted text of the stories, accompanied by detailed comments and a dictionary.
