The Blue Notebook in English

We present to the reader the works of Daniil Kharms (Daniil Ivanovich Yuvachev) (1905-1942), one of the founders of the avant-garde poetic and artistic group "The Union of Real Art" (OBERIU).
Contradictory, irrational, and revolutionarily inclined against everything familiar, bland, and... boring, Kharms captivates the reader with his unusual style and intriguing plots. A closer reading of Kharms' works reveals the author's despair over dehumanization, the dominance of lies, and emptiness in the day-to-day life of communist egalitarianism.
In August 1941, Daniil Ivanovich was arrested, placed in a psychiatric hospital, and died in February 1942.
The absurdist creativity of Daniil Kharms was officially recognized in the USSR only in the 1980s.
The works have been translated into English and will be of interest to a wide range of readers.
