Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646–1716) — a German scholar, universally recognized genius. The breadth of his interests is astounding — from mathematics and physics to linguistics and psychology. His contribution to science is invaluable. The ideas he expressed often opened new directions, the development of which became the task of subsequent generations of researchers. The work «New Experiments on Human Understanding» (1704) is a response to the work of the English scholar John Locke «An Essay Concerning Human Understanding». Paying tribute to his predecessor, Leibniz engages in a dialogue with him: Locke's position is represented by Philaletheia (lover of truth), while Leibniz's views are expressed by Theophilus (lover of God). This fictional debate remains a true pleasure for the intellectual reader to this day!
