The fate and creativity of Varlam Tikhonovich Shalamov (1907-1982) are connected with the most tragic events of the 20th century. His "Kolyma Tales" have become a classic of Russian and world literature. The proposed edition presents Shalamov as a poet... for the first time in all its fullness - "strong and original," as characterized by B. Pasternak. The main part of the poems included in the two-volume set was not published during the author's lifetime. About three hundred poems are published for the first time.
The 1st volume includes six authorial collections from the "Kolyma Notebooks" and other poems from 1940-1956.
The 2nd volume includes poems from 1957-1981, as well as the first poems written in Kolyma and sent to B. Pasternak.
