Peter the Great

The book tells about the life and deeds of Tsar Peter I, who became the first Russian emperor, Peter the Great. Peter was a transformer of the entire internal life of the country. He founded and organized cities, created a regular army and a powerful military fleet, educated himself and tried to enlighten his subjects, not shying away from the hardest work. Under his leadership, victory was achieved over Sweden in the protracted Northern War, and Russia became a European power. Peter can be called not only a warrior-king but also a working-king, a master-king. In just 53 years, granted to him by God, Peter the Great accomplished more than all his preceding Moscow rulers. This colossal creative work was unthinkable without destruction, without bloody struggles, without misunderstanding and resistance.
