Confession of an Outcast

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding philosopher, logician, sociologist, and writer Alexander Alexandrovich Zinoviev (1922-2006), his memoirs and reflections "Confession of an Outcast" are published. This is not only an intriguing tale of the... remarkable fate of a man whose life was filled with dramatic, at times incredible events and adventures, but also a deep philosophical and sociological analysis of several decades of Soviet and post-Soviet history. Calling himself an "eternal loner" and an "ideal communist," Zinoviev, a demanding critic of socialism of the "Soviet model," was no less a harsh critic of Western liberal ideas. He was called an "outcast" in the USSR.
But he was also an "outcast" in the West. He was unable to rid himself of this label even among those who now call themselves the "new Russian elite."
