The American poet, prose writer, journalist Edgar Poe 1809—1849 — the founder of the detective genre, author of mystical and science fiction stories. To this day, the circumstances and cause of the genius poet's death, the creator of ominous nightmares and grotesque phantasmagorias, remain unclear, with each passing year, the debates and legends grow more numerous. The name of the writer who was ahead of his time has become iconic in America — for example, it is known that for sixty years, every year on the birthday of E. Poe, a certain secret admirer in black left three red roses and a bottle of cognac on his grave. The collection includes selected stories.
