White Nights. Poor People

Two stories by Dostoevsky, united by the theme of timid, hopeless, pure, and selfless relationships. White Nights is a lyrical confession of a dreamer hero, a lonely and shy person, in whose life a girl appears for a while, along with her hope for a brighter future. In the novel Poor People, the eternal theme of the little man is revealed, and the touching love story of the minor official Makar Devushkin and Varvara Dobroselova is told. Despite their inner beauty and nobility of soul, they are unable to change their circumstances and are doomed to suffer in this cruel world. Dostoevsky's psychology is unique; it has no equal even in classical Russian literature, which makes his works eternally relevant.
