The Goat Song

Konstantin Konstantinovich Vaginov (1899-1934) - a prose writer and poet, witty, intellectual, brilliant. He is both the undertaker of old, pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg, and an unknown poet in his first novel "The Goat Song". "The Goat Song" is a literal translation of the word "tragedy" from ancient Greek, and the whole novel is like an irony about the last guardians-collectors of antiquities, the captivating intellectuals of the 1920s. But it is not only that: scoundrels and cowards, fools and dependents arise in the white night and disappear, leaving either a smirk or a sense of anxiety. K. Vaginov feels St. Petersburg, Petrograd, and Leningrad like no one else, tracing the most precise attributes of the early 20th century in the fog.
