Young biologist Leonid Artemyev suddenly finds himself in the midst of incredible events: from the familiar Leningrad, he goes to Pamir, and from there – straight into space! On an artificial satellite of Earth, named KEC in honor of the pioneer of rocket engineering K. E. Tsiolkovsky, there are scientific laboratories.
