K. I. Chukovsky left a vast creative legacy that includes journalism, translations, literary criticism, philological works, and memoirs. The diaries he kept throughout his life are also of great interest. This publication contains the diaries from 1922 to 1935. This was a time when Chukovsky was at the height of his creative powers, when he gained truly nationwide fame and his works for children were particularly successful. But it was also a time of severe losses and trials: the illness and death of his younger daughter, the fierce battle against "Chukovshchina" following N. Krupskaya's devastating article, censorship bans on publishing and speaking, financial hardship. In the stifling atmosphere of literary officialdom, the writer was forced to defend his right to creative freedom. The pages of the diaries also feature many outstanding contemporaries of Chukovsky, with whom he was well acquainted - Akhmatova, Gorky, Mayakovsky, Mandelshtam, Zoshchenko, Tynianov, and others.
