The collection Life and Eternity: 15 Conversations about Death and Suffering is a series of conversations, excerpts from lectures, radio broadcasts, and meetings of Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh, in which he talks about such important and complex things as suffering and death, offering a Christian understanding of them. The bishop shares many vivid examples from his own life when, as a doctor and a priest, he encountered death, reflects on the fear of death, the suffering of children, and the Judgment of God, dispelling the perception of death as the worst thing that can happen to us. Despite such a painful topic, the words of the bishop are filled with light, comfort, hope, and love. He speaks about death and suffering in a way that makes dying and suffering almost not scary.
