The book is prepared based on the classic work of the outstanding Russian biblicist, theologian, and professor of the Saint Petersburg Spiritual Academy, Alexander Pavlovich Lopukhin (1852-1904). In his monumental work "Biblical History of the Old Testament," which saw 20... reprints until 1917, he gathered and analyzed all biblical-chronological, archaeological, historical, and ethnographic material available by the end of the 19th century. A. P. Lopukhin intended his work for the broadest audience, as, in his opinion, "biblical history can become an inexhaustible source of moral and higher historical education for any person more or less capable of serious intellectual life."
