In the distant year of 1898, the great Russian writer Nikolai Georgievich Garin-Mikhailovsky made an amazing trip to the Far East. While traveling through the provinces of Korea, he recorded tales that later formed the golden fund of Korean folklore... and are still considered classics of fairy-tale epic in Korea today.
The Russian writer preserved for the history of Korean culture unique fairy-tale plots that have been passed down orally from generation to generation. These works are filled with the humor, kindness, understanding, forgiveness, and astonishing nobility of the Korean people.
The book contains more than sixty tales, illustrated by the works of Korean artists from the 17th to 19th centuries, among whom are great masters such as Kim Jun Gyn, Nam Il Ho, Baek Eun Bae, Kim Hong Do, and Shin Yun Bok.
