In a person's youth, risk is alluring and dangers lurk. It would be good to have a... wise mentor along the way, but what if you are maliciously used by a villain pretending to be a good person?.. The main characters of the book - the Prince of Bohemia, Florizel, and his loyal companion, Colonel Geraldine - love adventures. They meet a strange young man distributing pastries. Ultimately, everyone finds themselves in a gloomy house where an unusual society has gathered. Bound by an oath, the heroes are forced to participate in a dreadful game: by the will of the cards, one of the visitors of the secret club must die, and another must become his murderer. In the second part, an innocent young man finds a corpse placed in his bed, from which he cannot rid himself. In the third storyline, a young man becomes a witness and participant in how just retribution catches up with a criminal.
