Chocolade = Chocolate

The novel Chocolate, written by English author Joanne Harris, instantly became a bestseller. According to the author, it is a book about the suffocating consciousness of intolerance. The action of the novel unfolds in a provincial French town, where the... laws of puritanism and hypocrisy established by the local church priest reign. One day, a mysterious stranger, Vianne Rocher, appears in the town, and the lives of the townspeople are turned upside down. Vianne opens a chocolate shop, which gradually gains popularity. Residents of the town come happily to share their problems with the responsive and sensitive owner over a cup of hot chocolate. Full of true compassion, brave and independent, Vianne cannot come to terms with injustice, and gradually her shop becomes a stronghold in the fight against rigid views, dogmatism, and the hypocrisy of the curé and his followers.
