Cyprus. 1974. A couple of young lovers, Greek Kostas and Turkish Defne, meet in secret at a romantic tavern under the shade of an old fig tree growing right in the hall. This tree witnesses the tragic events that split the once peaceful beautiful island in half, distorting the fates of its inhabitants and seemingly forever separating Kostas and Defne… London. The end of the 2010s. In the garden of the house where Kostas lives with his sixteen-year-old daughter Ada, there grows a young fig tree. For Ada, this is the only connection to the island she has never been to, and to the dramatic history of her family, which, like the tree, goes back to a distant past… «The Island of Lost Trees» — a touching, romantic love story against the backdrop of infighting and the horrors of civil war.
