It seems that in the 19th century, medical institutes produced the most writers. Anton Pavlovich Chekhov perfectly illustrates this joke. A recognized master of the subtle, and most importantly, brief, humorous story, he started as a district doctor and sometimes treated patients completely free of charge if they had no money. A little later, he became interested in psychiatry. Many plots from his private life and practice made their way into the pages of his works. Sometimes amusing and absurd, and at times sharp and completely tragic — they are collected in this book.
