Together they set off to Cairo, and soon an ancient papyrus leads them to a mysterious tomb, the entrance of which is marked with the sign of Khi-Osk. Tintin sees exactly the same sign on a cigar found nearby. How could a cigar come to be in the middle of the desert? This is undoubtedly very strange, but worse is the other discovery: in the tomb, he finds sarcophagi containing the mummies of scholars who tried to uncover the pharaoh's secret. And among them are three empty ones — for Tintin, Milou, and the professor, who seems to have mysteriously gone missing...
