This book is an adaptation of the adventure novel "The Headless Horseman" by the English writer Thomas Mayne Reid. The action of the novel takes place in Texas during the period of the Wild West conquest. A mysterious murder occurs... in the prairie. Suspicion falls on the young mustanger Maurice Gerald, to whom the planter's daughter, the beautiful Louise, has given her heart. The mustanger's friend, the brave hunter Zeb Stamp, finds the main witness to the crime...
After each chapter, comments and translations of difficult words and expressions are provided, as well as exercises aimed at checking understanding of the text, practicing vocabulary and grammatical rules, and developing spoken language. New words are included in a dictionary placed at the end of the book.
