Perfect English: Learning and Playing

Everyone who has started learning English faces the problem of reading English words. The difficulty lies in the fact that words are not pronounced as they are written, the same letter can have several pronunciation variants, and there are many... rules and exceptions. How to make sense of this? In the textbook Perfect English. Read, Write, and Speak Correctly, we analyzed the reading of individual letters of the English alphabet and the rules for reading vowels in open and closed syllables, which form the basis of English phonetics. This textbook thoroughly examines the reading of complex letter combinations and discusses the main algorithms for reading English words. All rules are divided into 12 lessons, each dedicated to a specific type of combinations. We will explore all the nuances of English pronunciation, learn transcription, analyze reading rules, practice correctly reading groups of words for each rule and exception, expand our vocabulary, and reinforce the material learned through exercises and games. This textbook is aimed at elementary school students, but it will also be useful for anyone who wants to learn to read English correctly; it is suitable for additional classes and will be a good support for a tutor.
