Growth Pyramids

«Growth Pyramids» — the second part of the novel «Birch Grove». The main character, a successful healer Valentina Lebedeva, is noticed among the participants of a talk show by the influential television producer Ada Rudolf, who invites her to host... a new program. Valentina is not ready for this, but agrees for the sake of her adopted daughter Vika. Vika, a former drug addict, requiring constant emotional engagement, «falls in love» with television. The new environment inundates Valentina with intrigues that she finds difficult to handle. She is ready to stop filming after the very first show with Slava Zaitsev, but Ada makes a deal: she arranges for Vika to study at VGIK in the middle of the year, demanding continued cooperation in return. The show instantly becomes popular, and Valentina is constantly approached on the streets, but Ada harshly manipulates her without paying a penny. It is 1995, and the election campaign for the State Duma begins. The interests of Ada Rudolf and the former minister, now deputy Goryaev, with whom Valentina has an affair, powerfully intersect. And she finds herself between two fires…
