There are three ways to get from Castle Rock to Castle View: via highway number 117, Pleasant Road, or the Suicide Stairs. Every day throughout the summer of 1974, twelve-year-old Gwendy Peterson climbed the staircase, held by strong iron bolts... and zigzagging up the sheer slope. And one day, when Gwendy reached the top, catching her breath and hearing the shouts of children at the playground, a stranger spoke to her.
