Paradise Doll. Volume 1. The Yellow City / Aqua

On the planet Papatea, a harsh church dictatorship reigns: all power belongs to the papess Ludovica, who has surrounded herself with sycophantic subordinates. Once, she ruled the planet together with her sister Agape, who tried to bring the religion of... love and justice to the people. But Agape's ideas did not take root at court, and soon she disappeared without a trace.
To gain new followers, Ludovica sends a spaceship on a missionary mission to the planet Aqua.
After the departure, two cadets, Roy and Yahu, discover that a "hare" has infiltrated the ship - Noah, a female android of the "Paradise Doll" model, who escaped from a space bathhouse. Now, whether they like it or not, they will have to continue the journey together, get to know each other better, and uncover many secrets of their Universe and its inhabitants. As for Noah, she must find the answer to the question of who the "Paradise Dolls" are - mere objects of carnal pleasure and executors of dirty work, or truly living beings endowed with free will?
The "Paradise Doll" series began to be published in 2000, thanks to the efforts of the creative duo Alessandro Barbucci and Barbara Canepa. Simultaneously, this same duo worked on the comic W.I.T.C.H., published by Disney Italia, which brought Barbucci and Canepa immense fame. "Paradise Doll" also gained recognition not only in the authors' homeland but worldwide. The reason for its success is evident: in addition to its unique atmosphere and delightful artwork, the comic addresses eternally relevant issues concerning religion, politics, and society.
This book includes the stories "The Yellow City" (2000) and "Aqua" (2002), as well as materials from additional collections "The Doll Factory" (2002) and "Decades" (2015): a comic pre-story, character sketches, and numerous colorful illustrations by various artists inspired by the world of "Paradise Doll".
