Tanizaki Jun'ichiro (1886-1965) is a famous Japanese writer who gained worldwide recognition. In his work, he often referred to Japanese history. The events of his two novellas, “The Secret History of Prince Musashi” and “The Tale of the Blind Man,”... take place during the Period of Warring States (1482-1558) — an era of bloody civil wars. The heroes of these works are major feudal lords striving for absolute dominance over the country, brave and ruthless warriors who spare no means to achieve their ambitious goals. Tanizaki remains true to himself here: narrating conspiracies, betrayal, the thirst for revenge, and describing fierce duels, he explores the secret passions that torment the souls of fearless generals.The novella “The Secret History of Prince Musashi” has not been translated into Russian before.
